Ranking the ACC 1-12 below, but first, our Southern Pigskin lead for the ACC Wrap Up: Week 6

Oh, ACC, you can get crazier.

Per usual, the ACC team of the week from last week (Miami) lost to the new ACC team of the week (FSU) – but this time it wasn’t even close as the Seminoles rolled from start to finish.

The ACC team of the week from two weeks ago (NC State) – made their triumphant return on the scene with the 44-17 blowout of BC.

And the ACC team of the year from ’09 (Georgia Tech) – got their rushing game back in gear for 477 yards of pain inflicted on the ‘Hoos in the 33-21 win to improve to 3-1 in ACC play.

In what amounted to an elimination game for ACC contention – the Heels rode Johnny White to a huge home win over Clemson, 21-16, and an even record in ACC play at 1-1.

Meanwhile, OOC, the Hokies rolled to 4-2 over Central Michigan, and the Deacs’ D couldn’t hold on to a lead once again with a second-straight last-second drive-and-loss – this time, to Navy 28-27.

Read the rest here.

Rank..(LW)..Team…………………………………Record
1)..(2)..Florida State Seminoles………….5-1 (3-0 ACC)
Just doesn’t get more impressive. Domination of your rival on the road – just running wild with 298 rushing yards in a 45-17 win is a major step forward for the FSU program, but can they handle success? No has been able to so far in the ACC.

2)..(3)..North Carolina State Wolfpack………..5-1 (2-1 ACC)
Top offense in the ACC was on display against BC in a 44-17 win. They may not quite be FSU good, but they do have the week and a half before playing the ‘Noles and really have the ability to run the table after that from what I’ve seen. Still, it’s going to be tough to overcome the ‘Noles.

3)..(1)..Miami Hurricanes………………………3-2 (1-1 ACC)
Ouch. Hello, Miami, this is your wakeup call – will you rise to meet the rest of the season…or have the just embarrassing loss beat you all season? We’ll see.

4)..(5)..Virginia Tech Hokies…………………4-2 (2-0 ACC)
The Hokies finished off their tumultuous OOC schedule with an easy win over Central Michigan. Wake Forest is up next this week.

5)..(6)..Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets…………..4-2 (3-1 ACC)
I guess we can’t bury them yet – after nearly 500 yards rushing Saturday against the ‘Hoos. Middle Tennessee State up next.

6)..(8)..North Carolina Tar Heels…………3-2 (1-1 ACC)
UNC needed it – and they got it – a huge 21-16 win over Clemson to stay in the Coastal race that seems wider every second. Johnny White’s 179 yards and 2 TDs (and crucial reception on third down to finish off the Tigers late) led the way. White has really stepped up among all the controversy in Chapel Hill.

7)..(7)..Maryland Terrapins……………………4-1 (1-0 ACC)
The Terps got the week off before playing Clemson this weekend – now, they are the weird situation of being ahead of Clemson in the standings going down to the Valley for their usual surprising win (though a double-digit underdog still).

8)..(4)..Clemson Tigers………………2-3 (0-2 ACC)
Ouch, part two. In four weeks, Clemson has gone from a favorite after almost knocking off Auburn to 0-2 and a bleak, bleak picture from here out. The always troubling Terps come to town this week – Dabo HAS to win or he’s in serious trouble.

10)..(10)..Virginia Cavaliers…………………..2-3 (0-2 ACC)
The ‘Hoos rolled over VMI 48-7. VMI is like Virginia’s Presbyterian so not much to go on except Virginia avoided the dreaded FCS loss in ’10. The ACC season starts this week for the Cavaliers with Florida State.

10)..(9)..Boston College Eagles………………….2-3 (0-2 ACC)
I’m really trying to think of something positive here – the offense has no QB, or really anything going for them at all. The defense was sliced and diced by Wilson and it’s not going to get any better in Tallahassee this weekend. BC was the trendy “sleeper” pick presesason…now, just making a bowl is a goal.

11)..(11)..Wake Forest Demon Deacons…2-4 (1-2 ACC)
Ouch, part three. They HAD IT. So, so, close – all they had to stop was a running offense with less than 2 minutes to go, but Navy made a couple big plays and the Deacs’ long shot at bowl contention were buried.

12)..(12)..Duke Blue Devils…………………………1-4 (0-1 ACC)
Good news, Duke didn’t lose this week! Bad news, they didn’t play and the angry ‘Canes come to town this weekend.

We’ll have the full poll on ACCRivals later today…discuss your rankings here…
