Nesbitt will have to have one of the games of his career to get Georgia Tech back in the race at Lane Stadium.

Welcome to your weekly ACC Football Midweek Hype Machine that hopefully bridges your week to the weekend with good reads…

  • 11/04/10 –  Georgia Tech @ Virginia Tech / ESPN / 7:30 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: No. 1 rushing team in ACC (GT) vs. no. 2 rushing team in ACC (VT)

Can either defense stop these potent rushing attacks?

Bringing The Noise: Gobbler Country takes the Hokies in a close one. The Key Play scouts the Jackets. Georgia Tech needs something special to win Thursday night. New injuries and facing Georgia Tech’s blocking-style came up in the media talks. The Key Play and FTRS swapped good Q&As – here and here. Gobbler Country talks to Georgia Tech’s previous opponents this season to get an idea of what to do with the Jackets. HD says Georgia Tech has the best shot to take down Virginia Tech. Bad weather conditions could bring on the turnovers. In case these links weren’t enough, Gobbler Country has the game guide too.

Watch This Over…: Every political show, it’s gonna be two days after this whole election thing – watch one of the games of the year in the ACC.

  • 11/06/10 Maryland Terrapins  @ Miami Hurricanes / ESPNU / 12:00 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: Miami’s freshman QB Morris vs. Terps’ D

Morris threw for two and ran in one TD against Virginia – he gets his first start against the Terps Saturday.

Bringing The Noise: Eye of the Hurricane breaks down the Terps from an outsider’s perspective. Shannon ignoring the criticism as he starts the freshman QB Stephen Morris for the injured Harris. The Terps are preparing for both. D1scourse looks at the long-range FG-kicking plans for Maryland. Testudo Times examines what’s gone into O’Brien’s good start for the Terps.

Watch This Over…: Illinois at Michigan, are the Terps really contenders in the Atlantic? You can find out if you tune in – not the matchup with two teams waaaay out of the Big Ten race.

  • NC State Wolfpack @ Clemson Tigers / ACC Network / 12:00 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: Clemson’s rushing O minus Ellington vs. NC State’s D

The one real bright spot offensively for Clemson is out in Andre Ellington – can they muster up a running game with their other talented, yet unproven backs in Jamie Harper and Rod McDowell?

Bringing The Noise: breaks down how the Tigers get back on track or how the Wolfpack stay on the path to Charlotte. Parker’s still the guy after a bit of Tajh Boyd buzz on Monday. Backing the Pack looks at the Tigers coming in.

Watch This Over…: Battle for Tobacco Road: Duke vs. North Carolina, I know you’re ancy for b-ball after the season thus far, but watch the Wolfpack as they try to keep pace in the Atlantic.

  • Virginia Cavaliers @ Duke Blue Devils / ESPN3 / 12:00  p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: London vs. Cutcliffe, pt. 3

London got the better of the Blue Devils back in 2008, and lost a close contest in 2009 – what can he do with an FBS team in Durham?

Bringing The Noise: The ‘Hoos are looking for more turnovers at Duke from their pass rush. If you ignore the season up to last week, it’s a battle of a top QB (Renfree) vs. INT-forcing D (UVA) Saturday. Renfree is learning though. The ‘Hoos o-line has been a strength up to this point.

Watch This Over…: One Tree Hill, it’s from 2004, folks – don’t you want to see if either of these teams can get a 2-game winning streak?

  • Boston College Eagles @ Wake Forest Demon Deacons / ESPN3 / 3:30 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: ACC’s top rusher (Montel Harris) vs. ACC’s worst rushing D (Wake)

BC rammed Harris through the Clemson d-line last week – next up, the Deacs fresh off giving up 62.

Bringing The Noise: BC Interruption has the depth chart for Wake Forest. Something has to give in a matchup of extremes between the BC offense and Wake D.

Watch This Over…: Breeder’s Cup, unless you have money on it – do you really watch? (What’s that you say?…which one? C’mon man.)

  • North Carolina Tar Heels @ Florida State Seminoles / ABC-ESPN2 / 3:30 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: UNC’s 2nd best TO margin vs. FSU’s 2nd worst TO margin

The Heels have forced INTs and fumble aplenty in ‘10 even with all the turnover on the roster – the ‘Noles are actually third in turnovers given up, but haven’t forced many…if it’s close, watch this part of the game.

Bringing The Noise: UNC Raycom Blog breaks down the ‘Noles offensive matchup with the Heels. The Heels are starting to feel the effects of a long season. This season has been anything but what was expected for Ponder – the Orlando Sentinel gives you some reasons why.

Watch This Over…: BTDGOTW: Northwestern at Penn State, our second Big Ten entry and I can’t imagine watching that over the ‘Noles/Heels.

We’ll have the picks tomorrow – come on back!
