Welcome to your weekly ACC Football Midweek Hype Machine that hopefully bridges your week to the weekend with good reads…

  • 11/13/10 – Boston College Eagles  @ Duke Blue Devils / ESPN3 / noon ET

Must-See Matchup: Prolific Blue Devils’ O vs. grizzled BC D

Duke’s put up 89 points in the last two weeks – BC has allowed 23…it’s match of two teams riding 2-game winning streaks.

Bringing The Noise: BC Interruption found a website willing to talk Duke football and did a Q&A. Eagle in Atlanta asks the question, why is Duke so bad (year to year)?

Watch This Over…: Mississippi at Tennessee, see – BC and Duke are the second worst teams in their division…the Rebels and Vols are the worst in the SEC…so, watch BC-Duke?

  • Miami Hurricanes  @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets / ACC Network / noon ET

Must-See Matchup: Second career start QB Stephen Morris (Miami) vs. first career start QB Tevin Washington (GT)

Both have shown poise standing in for team-leading QBs down to injury – which one makes plays and doesn’t make poor decision will lead their team to victory.

Bringing The Noise: Eye of the Hurricane breaks down Georgia Tech. If it’s based on common opponents, Miami wins.  HD says CPJ might change it up offensively with a new QB. Paul Johnson would like you to get a hold on your football vernacular, Randy Shannon. Injuries are all over for Miami.

Watch This Over…: BTDGOTW – Indiana at Wisconsin, the Hoosiers gave Iowa a scare, but it’s not happening at Wisconsin so keep it locked to ACC Network.

  • Wake Forest Demon Deacons @ NC State Wolfpack / ESPN3 / 2:00 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: NC State vs. mistakes

Let’s face it, Wake Forest is a bad, bad team – the Wolfpack cut down on the mistakes and they take this one.

Bringing The Noise: Wake Forest just struggled and Backing the Pack looks at the Deacs coming into Raliegh this weekend. NC State RB Dean Haynes will be back Saturday.

Watch This Over…: Ultimate Fighter: Some fighter vs. another fighter, a UFC reality show – zzzzzzzzzz.

  • Maryland Terrapins @ Virginia Cavaliers / ESPN3 / 3:30  p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: Verica and co. vs. Terps D

The ‘Hoos come in with the 33rd best offense in the nation – a bit surprising for a team that’s 4-5, but the Terps are right with them on defense at 36th.

Bringing The Noise: Virginia can play spoiler against their border brethren. The ‘Hoos have been missing Dowling – and with Minnefield hurting, could be in trouble Saturday, again. After their fair share of injuries, the Terps hope to get a couple back Saturday.

Watch This Over…: Syracuse at Rutgers, does the Big East still get a BCS bid at the end of this season?

  • Virginia Tech Hokies @ North Carolina Tar Heels / ABC-ESPN2 / 3:30 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: 2-headed monster rushing attack of VT vs. UNC D

With David Wilson out, Ryan Williams and Darren Evans take the carries into Chapel Hill – the Hokies could wrap up the Coastal Saturday with a win or put themselves in a tenuous spot down the stretch with a loss.

Bringing The Noise: The Hokies have a shot to take the Coastal out-right Saturday. Kyle Tucker breaks down Virginia Tech’s November success. Gobbler Country has the game guide. Hokies have to get to Yates Saturday. Gobbler Country Q&As with a UNC blog to scout the Heels. UNC RB situation still unsure. Injuries are mounting up for Virginia Tech.

Watch This Over…: Georgia at Auburn, Hokies have a shot at wrapping up their bid to Charlotte while the Heels try to keep their hopes alive after the win at FSU last week.

  • Clemson Tigers @ Florida State Seminoles / ABC / 8:00 p.m. ET

Must-See Matchup: FSU QB TBD vs. improved Clemson D

After a rough start, Clemson has slowly moved up the ranks defensively and are 12th in the country in scoring D – they will be tough to beat for Ponder or Manuel Saturday.

Bringing The Noise: Ponder still not practicing, but Thompson is – Clemson’s preparing for Ponder to be on the field. OrangeandWhite.com has the keys to victory for the Noles and for the Tigers. Clemson kickers are on a short leash on the road this week. Fisher is looking for a killer instinct from this ‘Noles.

Watch This Over…: Oregon at California, I mean, the Ducks are going to win by a milli, no?

We’ll have the picks tomorrow – come on back!
