2010 ACC Pick’Em (71-29 so far on the season)

  • 12/31/10 – Florida State Seminoles vs. South Carolina Gamecocks / ESPN/ 7:30 ET

Must-See Matchup, FSU offense vs. SC Defense: FSU rushing attack vs. Gamecocks’ rush D

South Carolina is 9th nationally in stopping the run – FSU has a 3-headed monster at RB that has racked up 16 TDs.

Must-See Matchup, SC offense vs. FSU Defense: SC’s Jeffery and Gurley vs. FSU secondary

The Gamecocks have a couple studs at WR that can rip apart a secondary – the ‘Noles have improved back there, but aren’t exactly elite.

Watch 4: SC offense to be too much.

In almost their entire football history, the Gamecocks haven’t had “it” – the intangible (and talent) to reel off big win after big win – they have “it” this year and the ‘Noles aren’t quite there.

The Pick: Gamecocks 34 ‘Noles 24

ATS Section (44-42-1 to date)

We’re 2-1 straight up, but 1-2 ATS in ACC bowls…

  • Gamecocks and over 3 vs. FSU

Take to Bank %: 60%

There probably isn’t a game this ACC bowl season I’d like to be more wrong about, but any ACC team outside of Virginia Tech was going to have trouble in this particular game.

2010 ACC Pick’Em (71-29 so far on the season)

  • 12/31/10 – Miami Hurricanes vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish / CBS / 2 ET

Must-See Matchup, Miami offense vs. ND Defense: ‘Canes rushing game vs. ND rushing D

The Hurricanes have so many options at RB, but often misuse them – will they find holes and stick with the run on a middle of the pack rush defense?

Must-See Matchup, ND offense vs. Miami Defense: Freshman QB Rees vs. Miami secondary

The Hurricanes have the no. 2 pass defense in the country and have 16 INTs on the season – Rees had over 2,000 yards passing once he took over at QB with 15 TDs and 7 INTs while guiding Notre Dame to a strong finish.

For more stats and analysis – check out my Southern Pigskin breakdown of the New Year’s Eve bowls.

Watch 4: Irish to capitalize on Miami offensive inefficiencies and score enough to win.

I just don’t trust Miami. Notre Dame comes in underrated for a change and have a more impressive resume than the ‘Canes – Kelly’s Irish pull it out.

The Pick: Irish 24 Canes 20

ATS Section (44-42-1 to date)

We’re 2-1 straight up, but 1-2 ATS in ACC bowls…

  • Notre Dame and under 2.5 vs. Miami

Take to Bank %: 15%

I like how the Irish finished out the season and they have a chance to make a statement in El Paso Friday.

2010 ACC Pick’Em (71-29 so far on the season)

  • 12/31/10 – Clemson Tigers vs. South Florida Bulls / ESPN / noon ET

Must-See Matchup, Clemson offense vs. USF Defense: Tigers’ ground game vs. USF rushing D

Even down Andre Ellington, Clemson has to establish the run for their offense to be functional – Jamie Harper is the guy against the nation’s 33rd ranked D at stopping the run.

Must-See Matchup, USF offense vs. Clemson Defense: USF ground game vs. Clemson rushing D

If it’s been said once – it’s been said a million times…these teams are mirror images of each other and both struggle offensively – USF needs to get the ground game going to keep the heat off their QBs from Bowers and co.

For more stats and analysis – check out my Southern Pigskin breakdown of the New Year’s Eve bowls.

Watch 4: The Tigers to find a way to take this one.

Clemson has beat better teams this season – and also lost to teams worse…the Tigers shake off their season finale with a decent performance in a win Friday.

The Pick: Tigers 24 Bulls 16

ATS Section (44-42-1 to date)

We’re 2-1 straight up, but 1-2 ATS in ACC bowls…

  • Clemson and over 5.5 vs. USF

Take to Bank %: 10%

Hard to put a lot of confidence in a offense that’s so sporadic.
